This really makes me wonder about the hyoid in humans, which serves no real purpose these days other than to tell (if it's broken in a corpse) if someone's been strangled. I mean, it's a muscle attachment point & supposedly "aids the tongue in swallowing." It's the only bone in the body that is not attached directly to another bone. But I wonder, did our ancestors have a use for the hyoid that's more like the chameleon's? Hmmm.

So at the end, the slo-mo chameleon tongue looks like it is grabbing the cricket, sort of wrapping around it. I always thought that the end of the tongue is sticky and that is how they catch food. Is the tongue sticky? Or is it grabby?

At 6.30 did that tongue actually start to engulf the cricket, while it was just stick to it? Jesus, this footage is incredible, mate. The things that happen every day around us, we just take for granted. Yet, destin opens up that world, to us non scientific folk, and that, my friends, can only be a good thing.
