Joe Rogan does'nt believe in Bruce Lee's legacy. My research indicates he was Super Hyper energetic, Social Butterfly, Naturally Charming Leader, Physically/Mentally ON! 247 ( Micheal Jordon) And ultra competetive . Sounds Like a Legend to me.

I believe Cliffs character was also loosely based on another stuntman, one who actually worked with and for George Spahn at his movie ranch before and during the time the Manson family lived there, he was also a friend of Spahn. His name was Donald "Shorty" Shea . Shorty was murdered at Spahn ranch a few days after the Tate-Labianca murders. Manson and four of his male family members asked Shorty for a ride to get some parts for one of their vehicles, Shorty pulled off the road about a mile from the ranch and was hit in the head from behind with a pipe wrench by Steve "Clem" Grogan, then stabbed by "Tex" Watson, and thrown down an embankment where the other three took turns stabbing him. The family claimed the reason Shorty had to be "dealt with" is because Manson told them Shorty was ratting to the cops about cars they had stolen, however, Shorty had little to do with the family or the girls and Manson didn't like it that he couldn't get him to join along, also Shorty had found out that Manson had beat up and broken the jaw of a female co- worker on the ranch, he tracked Charlie down, dropped two of his friends and when Charlie came at him talking tough with a knife Shorty dropped him, beat him into the ground, and left him out cold and bleeding. Most believe that's the real reason Shorty was killed. In the movie "Clem" was the goof at the ranch who got his ass kicked by Cliff for flattening the tire. Steve "Clem" Grogan was the only Manson family member to be paroled and has become an accomplished blues guitarist performing stateside and Europe. Shorty Shea was a Boston boy and is buried in the LA County paupers cemetery.

It doesn’t matter if he was really like it or not. Not only is it a fictional movie, but it’s also a memory from Cliff Booth and could be skewed in his own mind.

Bruce Lee encouraged every kid in my town to take karate classes, and I ended up being their punching bag.....I'm all for Tarantino's interpretation. I want somebody to beat that dancer's ass.

I think the story goes that Bruce was being pretty hard on his stunt guys and had a big ego so the stunt guys brought in Gene LeBell in to knock him down a notch. Gene got him in a head lock then picked him up and ran around the set with him. After the fight he asked Gene LeBell to train him and he put grappling moves he learned from Gene front and center in many of his fight, that's how he beats Sammo Hung and Chuck Norris.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Sucked!!! Pointless, fictitious resolution about real life event. This is what ruined Inglorious Bastards. The end of the movie with the kids at the house was the only good part of the movie and we had to sit through 2 hours of worthless smoking, drinking, and dialogue for that.

Indeed he said that. Like Joe says, they where friends and even trained together. Maybe Lee joked around a little with stuff they have trained on together before. I am sure a real judo proffesional is hard to take down. Even for Bruce. But He knew more sports then just Judo. Sure Bruce could finish him by some critical strikes in the face or kicks. But who is going to kick someone in the head when he is your friend and then injure him?? That does not sound like Bruce. He was not a idiot and always very friendly to everyone. Maybe bruce went into a ground fight and there he could lose. But that is very unlikely since bruce had a serious back injury and they are both not that stupid to try something like that. And then take the risk bruce is in a wheelchair for the rest of this life. So no matter how this story is told, it sounds very unlikely.

A small wiry fighter can also dodge a huge gorilla and let him play himself out. What Joe doesn't understand here is that the martial arts we saw on film are not necessarily the actual moves/techniques he would use in a real fight. That said - Bruce Lee wasn't the GREATEST martial artist who ever lived either. There were many people who could have mopped the floor with him. He was just a guy.

Bruce Lee in OUATIH is pretty much a direction toward such a ridiculous caricature portrayal. I hate it. If anything, it was likely Hollywood guys like Ricky or Cliff that would boast & challenge him. Especially the treatments of foreign actors & filmmakers in Hollywood back then. Bruce Lee respected Moh. Ali to the bone.
Hell, we all know Quentin Tarantino is an arrogant douche, although he did back it up with his excellent movies. Fictional story don't absolved a movie from bad directions & portrayals. If someone somehow make a movie of Hitler being a freaking saint & heroic with no freaking reason, there will be no denying people would criticize it despite it being a fictional story.
