Onyx looks really excited to be there. I'm sure that during the entire school year he was dreaming about seeing a pig farm over his summer vacation. Luckily, I was able to use the "fast forward" button.

So good to see people like you guys out there who shows the majority of the population how modern agriculture looks like. Everyone should know how their loved bacon is produced. And that it's all right because the farmers really care about there produce, the animals and the liabilities they have for future generations. However I whish that life stock farmers especially hog farmers should earn more. At the end the race to the bottom cannot be won by the farmer. It requires the responsible consumer who is also willing to pay a little more for the bacon.

Coming from a long line of ranchers (not me personally, unfortunately, but my parents, grandparents, relatives, etc.), I’m familiar with ranching operations...back then!! Holy moly, it’s absolutely amazing how the farming and ranching industry has gone so high tech. Your guys knowledge blows me away!! I’m learning so much about these businesses, and loving every minute of the experience! Thanks for sharing your worlds, city folk should be watching this....I think it would bring a little reality into their world!

So, the pigs do not get to be pigs at all. Wow. How about a natural life? These pigs have no immune system because they are kept as sterile as possible. Keeping them clean is fine, but, it is not natural for a pig. But, whatever makes your boat float.

We need "Country of Origin" labeling laws in the USA... I only want to eat my pork, beef, and chicken from farms like this one. I've heard stories of how filthy other countries can be when it comes to livestock. I would be pretty darn happy if 100% of my food was produced by American and Canadian farm(er)s.

Does this hog farm recycle the manure into methane to run any of their electrical and heating systems? I can see an operation like theirs being totally self sufficient and go completely off grid. Cheers....

A pig has the same intelligence and emotional level as a German Shepherd, which is roughly the same level as a 3 year old human child, a toddler. Enjoy your bacon.

he talked about them not being equipped to survive a Minnesota Winter and i just wanna get this off my chest: Theyre only not able to survive because of the breeding weve been doing to these animals. they are now meat producing unita and not really animals anymore if you ask me. we could argue about that being right or wrong all day long but the fact is that theres less and less diversity in animal breeds. not only pigs but also cows and chickens have been bred to just produce and work at maximum efficiency and we need that to feed the world but on the other hand i think its important that there are also farmers that keep livestock which isnt bred to or even capable of yielding max amounts of a product.

The Skittles thing, I was thinking similar. That's calories and nutrition. Blended with other things, it would work as animal feed. Waste not, want not. Of course, the general public is so distanced from their food that they generally only have a basic idea of where the food comes from and how that food was produced. If feed costs too much, the price of the end product goes up, the customer complains or even buys something else, everyone suffers. So long as the animals have a balanced diet and a reasonable life, all's good. I'm very sure farmers weren't feeding Skittles straight to cows. That would probably make them sick or even kill them. Of course they're not going to do that, that's lost money.

                                                                  • d fobroy
