      Hello Scotty,

Since you talked about the Ford with the small turbocharged engine, what is your opinion about the new engines Honda is using on many of their new cars? They have reduced the size of the engines but use turbochargers. Do you think these engines will wear out faster as well?

The Aptera prototype was ultra-light, lowest drag. I was going to buy one, against my credo: Never buy the 1st year model. To any thinking car person, this was obviously the most efficient platform ever, regardless of the power source. I would have bought it with any power train. Who killed it? Why hasn't anyone built a knockoff? Why hasn't the new patent owner built one, as he promised?

Scotty... no offence, but Elon Musk founded PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla, the Boring Company, and Neuralink. All of these companies either are already or soon will be valued at a billion dollars or more. Nobody in history has founded this many billion dollar companies. Given this, I think he doesn’t need to follow Toyota’s strategy.

What's up with ragging on Tesla? They are a very young auto mfr that has grown tremendously over a short period of time. They have taken on Detroit and are beating them at their own game. Tesla are developing their own battery packs and are shooting for 1 million mile batteries, revolutionizing the industry. At the moment, Tesla is building the world's largest car mfg plant in China.
The Tesla Power Walls are just an offshoot product of that innovation.

Oh yeah, BTW, in his spare time, Musk has also taken on the space industry, producing the first reusable, self-landing rocket booster (another industry revolutionized). SpaceX is also delivering supplies to the Space Lab, something that NASA is no longer able to do.
What have YOU done lately, besides criticize the efforts of others from your recliner?

Really? You recommend that people start hammering on someone else's car BEFORE they buy? Good luck with doing that at the local dealership.

I don’t appreciate you insinuating that Tesla or Elon is testing his cars on the American people. I’ve had nothing but a good experience and spoken to people that 100% like their Tesla car more than any polluting gas or diesel vehicle.

Soon these electric cars will have an electric main engine, backed up by a gasoline engine and all else fails, they will bring out their gas powered electric generator and charge up their car while enjoying a picnic till their batteries charge up. That's progress. Somehow, I think the petrol powered engines are going to be with us for a very long time.

No transmission, engine, radiator, starter, generator, differential, gas tank, exhaust or muffler.........They should very light and simple. Just a motor on 2 or 4 wheels, and a battery. There should be plenty of room for a quick replaceable battery compartment. The answer to range is replacing the batteries at stations. Let the power company own all the batteries, and you just pay for power. The cost of batteries, and battery replacement, could be added to the price of electricity a few cents a charge. Pop the hood, (or trunk) and an automated hoist would pull the old battery, and drop in the full one. While changing it would calculate the power left in the old battery and give you credit for it. For long trips you could have a second battery on the other end of the car, but not carry it around in normal driving to save the weight. A battery could be changed out in less time than it takes to fill up a car with gas.

My car is a big, modern 3 litre straight six BMW, diesel powered. It has tech in that greatly reduces the emissions. I prefer it to electric. Lots of manual things in my car - like the door handle that opens when you pull it.

Don't trust the all electric cars and would love to not have it shoved down my throat like a surprise blow job.

Besides, the (British for me) government makes a lot of money out of taxes on fuel. Years ago they said petrol is the fuel is Satan - everyone must move to diesel. So we did, we used less diesel, the govt got less income, so they then said diesel is the fuel of Satan - we need to (surprise!) move to petrol.

Now petrol is the the fuel of Satan, we need to go to petrol.

What happens when everyone moves to electricity like the government says. No money, overloaded power systems.

Just let me drive my car in peace...

The log file that writes to the chip is NOT a log file that log car related info, but the regular system log to a computer. So the log file is NEVER used.

The loging can be disabled, or be stored on a ramdisk(tempfs). This is basic computer knowledge that you NEVER log to a solid state..

BEV cars work differently if you would own one you would understand. I have 2 Model S cars from 2014 and 2015 neither of them have ever needed service and we are talking 143.000 miles or 230.000 km on each car. Petrol stations will close and guys like you will be changing tires and windshield vipers. Hybrids are only stupid as they have to cramp in two systems into one car and the ICE part still needs service and will break down much earlier then the EV system.
