How about you make one where the evil empire wins one you know what I mean

I just realized that first pitch thrown by Bush was probably one of the best first pitches by someone that is not a retired baseball player

I think that if Joe Torre had let Mariano Rivera pitch one inning the Yankees could have won this game and the series.

To understand we need to rewind, baseball was invented in 1839.

By any standard Rivera's 9th inning was a disaster - 3 hits, a throwing error and a hit batsman. ANY other pitcher and having that in Game 7 of the World Series is a career-killer or at least a legacy changer. The fact that it wasn't, and that the Diamondbacks are given credit instead for beating him, tells you how amazingly good the guy was. Look at Jose Mesa - he gets raked over the coals to this day and all he gave up was a run on a sacrifice fly in 1997.

We needed that series. As a country, but as New York City especially. We didn't get it; they beat us fair and square. But I was home and in attendance for those two game saving homers from Brosius and Jeter. Both games. There were as many people bawling as screaming and high fiving. Just the release - something to be happy about. I was doing both at times. What this series did for New York in its darkest hour...still. This was probably the most exciting World Series I've seen to date.

Confused response to 9/11 is that what he said, the confusion happened in 2003 in Iraq, the mistake in Afghanistan was believing anything would be easy and not going in with overwhelming force to tear down everything, get the rare earth metals in the rich deposits, and why we are not doing that now, well after so many tips of the spears life's, Iraq was run by a horrible dictator, so is Syria, doing really horrible things all the time to lots of people, but I know, in Afghanistan we trained them, when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979, proxy war, but hey the Diamond Backs won, and in some capacity we are still in Afghanistan almost 20 years later, yes I know there wasn't much to tear down in Afghanistan to begin with, which makes it that more dangerous to engage in that nomadic enemy tunnel system always mobile, always ready to kill you with no regard to rules of engagement binding your actions and always scrutinized by the propaganda media who likes to say they support the troops and they also demonize any action that is taken in the fog of battle to frame public opinion for whatever agenda it thinks we should all support, the Diamond Backs haven't been back since, and still waiting for Athletics money ball team to win it all, and Bonds is all Home runs , oh and ego , no rings though , karma at work, random chance, maybe

I know my Bombers were in the midst of a dynasty revival at the time but, as was said at the start, this one was important to the city for more than just continuing the Yank legacy. I cried watching it as a 15 year old, but the D-Backs earned it. They played well.

The error between Rivera and Jeter, Broscious possibly throwing to 1st for a 2nd out, bringing the infield in etc. None of these were huge errors however so you can't blame the Yankees entirely for it. Every time I walk into Chase field I think about that moment, taking my own daughter there seeing the banner flying just above the mega screen. I remember that night in the driveway pretty clearly.

Look...I know saying the yanks deserved to win this game 7 sounds crazy, since they had won 3 chips in a row and 4 out of 5, but you have to understand what was happening in NY at the time. This vid only briefly touched on it, but the 9/11 attacks DEVASTATED NYC. Ppl were walking around like zombies there for MONTHS. I know this because I was there. I saw the Towers burn from my living room window and will never forget it or the smell of it.....

But I also wont ever forget that the yankees postseason run united us ALL. Even METS and RED SOX fans were rooting for the yanks back then, and it seemed like the whole country was too. Because of this, the yanks kept overcoming the odds. In the first round they became the 1st ever team to lose the first 2 games at home and still win the series. In the 2nd round they went up against team that had won a record 116 games, and beat them in 5. Then in the W.S. they not only came back from being down 0-2, but as shown in the vid, they scored 2 2-out game tying HRS in back to back games, and won both. So it seemed like Destiny was on the yankees side......until that 9th inning.
