The Books CANNOT end the same! | Game of Thrones Vs The Books ASOIAF

Game of Thrones Season 8 ended but will A song of Ice and Fire end the same? Everyone has been asking that question when it comes to game of Thrones and the ending! I would have to say some things may be the same but other things will be majorly different! I think it is impossible for Sansa to be Queen of the North, I think Sansa is a victim of the butterfly effect the George RR Martin has talked about so many times!

Show is such a dogshit adaption of the books. I have no hope for Wheel of Time when Amazon releases that either. We need more Watchmens and Godfathers in this world. Too many directors that think they know better than the author. Asoiaf went down the same path as The Hobbit and that's really sad.

I believe she loses her shit. But only after loosing everything. Being completely broken. She snaps. I don't think cersei will back down like that either though. Cersei and wildfire are pointed out to many times for her not to be the one to burn shit down.

Says who? You? Say what you want about D&D but GRRM gave them his plot points. You on the other hand, don't know shit. You're guessing just like everybody else. You get views from pandering to fans who didn't get the ending they wanted, so you're trying to act like you know the books better by saying what they wanna hear. Sure jan

The Jamie ending in the show made me sooo mad. They'd literally spent 4 seasons giving his character the turnaround just to go "well he just can't help himself and people don't really change". And especially because in the books he's already almost completely binned Cersei off. It just felt like a huge character assassination.

I've been interested in reading the books for a while, but hesitant because of the LOOONG hiatus. I dont want to get invested in a better story only left hanging for the rest of my life on Jon's murder. Is there indication he may start writing again?

Thanks for audible I am now on Book 4 of GAME OF THRONES just wondering when we will get Book 6 & 7. I believe that G.R.R.M stated that it will be the same ending in the books but will go more into detail than what the show put out.

Western TV maybe, Japan has had many series pass their source material before the shows ended.

Just look at all the things that were set up and dropped or just never added. The show was just a shell of the story.

George rr Martin said that the books will end similarly to how the show ended. If he ever finishes the books.

It makes no sense for Bran the Bland to give independence to the North and Sansa as their queen. He said over and over again that he's not Bran anymore, he's the 3Eyed Raven. When he returns to Winterfell and reunites with his siblings he is emotionless. So why would an all seeing 3 Eyed Raven decide Sansa was deserving and fit to rule the North yet let Jon be banished. Seems more like he didn't see anything that's been going on, not the other way around. Great start on your rule Bran Bran.

It saddens me to say it but, I doubt we will ever get the end of the story. It takes Martin years to finish a book and instead of writing he is busy running around doing everything else under the sun. I have never been so irritated with an author like I am with this one.

I need to know your opinion on whether these events in season 7 occur in the books, specifically whether Cersei blows up the Great Sept and becomes queen, the mission north of the wall to get a wight, and Dany losing a dragon to the others/the wall coming down in that manner. I personally think that Cersei has to blow up the Great Sept because I think that's too great a moment for D and D to come up with, but I also don't see her becoming queen of the seven kingdoms. I find the whole mission north of the wall ridiculous and I'm pretty sure that is not happening in the book.

Well, you are right that lots of things can’t happen the same, but none of them actually mean that Sansa can’t end up as Queen in the North. The Fisher King theory is a nice theory, but it is only that - a theory. And I don’t see it as politically viable for Bran, or anyone, to rule the Seven Kingdoms from Winterfell. It is too remote. George did say that the big notes would be the same, and Sansa as Queen is quite a bit note. Not saying it will definitely happen, but there is a decent chance it will.

GoT is not the first to surpass source material. Fullmetal Alchemist was an anime based on manga. The original Fullmetal Alchemist anime went in a different direction after the manga was no longer up to date. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood was created after the manga and stayed true to the story line. And was MUCH better.
Walking Dead is also based on manga. The manga is still ongoing.

Why is Ser Barristan Selmy aka Barristan, the Bold still known as Barristan the Bad Ass after he witnessed the Mad king burn men alive for years and still served him and house Targayen until they fell?

It was very cliche and the fan service was really bad.

I just think it's so much nicer ending it with everyone united. There's a Stark on the throne in King's Landing as well, so there's absolutely no need for it.

But here we have something else. We don't have dislike. We have searing hate. We have a mob mentality against the writers. We have easily debunkable conspiracies about the writers motivations spreading like wildfire (for example, the number of episodes was settled a whole two years before D&D received an offer to do Star Wars). We have all of a sudden people taking apart the show for even the most venial of sins (the whole number of bricks thing for example) present in just about every single movie out there. We have completely nonsensical reasons for this searing invective... like the argument that there should have been more episodes, like saying ''If I had gotten a full portion of mashed potatoes they would have been the best, but since I only got half a portion, these mashed potatoes are THE WORST EVER! (Oh, and the cook deserves to be fired and to never work at a restaurant again!)''

The idea that the authors simply tried something new and audacious and it was to people's liking is out of the question. No, D&D did it on PURPOSE. Oh, and they're also THE WORST WRITERS EVER even though they're somehow responsible for 6-7 seasons of the best television ever. Oh, and last but not least, we have expert screenwriters telling us what a story can and cannot do, should and should not do... as if there are some god-mandated restrictions when it comes to art.

No, this sad spectacle has nothing to do with the final season 'being bad' (which it most definitely isn't, it's fantastic!). It has everything to do with Dany's turn. It has everything to do with the cult that formed around 'Yay! Khaaleeseee'', the entire sorry immoral spectacle of people not being able to recognize a tyrant when she's staring them in the face. A startling demonstration how easy it is to dupe people, how easily people will follow bloodthirsty dictators who promise ''social change'' (pretty much like what's happening nowadays in the USA on BOTH sides of the political spectrum).

The mob doesn't like truth shined on it's face. The only thing the mob likes is flattery (clever plot twist, favorite character winning out...). Historically just about ever work of art that did shined the truth about the nature of the mob was mercilessly rejected, banned, criticized... This is nothing new. The only difference is that the internet is there to channel all this hostility.
