You stated here you get it in your legs or arms, while after my breast cancer I have it in my breast and yes it's painful but guess what it's even harder to get compression garments, which after massage therapy two months ago I'm still waiting on my compression garment.😭

Why is her lymphatic system blocked? She needs them cleanse. There are lymphatic clinics out there that can help. Good luck Wendy!

RE: Cleanse... How does it work and how often? I'm perplexed. If the lymphatics have difficulty excreting, how would the cleanse pass? RE: Imaging. Radiology may be able to pin point the blockage, but the removal of one without obstructing the others (surgery) is a concern. I would like to hear studies from a successful candidate.

The Mayo Clinic had an advertisement about lymphatic imaging. This is something I would love to do. I called them and they didn't know what I was talking about. They didn't know what was on their website or who could be doing it. The lymphatic clinic I've seen only know how to do manual drainage. I think imaging needs to be more top of priority so you can see where blockage is happening.

She has.... probably incorporating meat back in her diet. The lymphedema is in her legs.  Thus far she's good if she's wearing shorts publicly, only compressing and not wearing surgical supports.  The average sufferer could dream especially during the summer.

Wendy's more than likely came as a result of all the cosmetic surgeries she's had in the past couple of years. The trauma from that along with the average doctor doing surgeries NEVER EVER discuss the lymphatic system with all patients period. I have lymphedema and Lipeodema both triggered by surgery which is why Dr. Ashton said "Secondary". It has taken me years to find a competent doctor to diagnose me. I have a lot of info that has helped me maintain. If anyone needs the info hit me up or reply. Surgeries create the problem especially since the doctors don't even think about trying do surgery and bypass lymph nodes and in up removing or damaging them. Ergo lymphedema.

Well she needs to take those implants out. She's had them for over 20 years. She said it on her show. You are suppose to replace your implants every few years. There are many reports how toxic implants can be and the side effects. Michelle Visage took hers out and she explains why. Look up what she said.

Wendy Williams has suffered with Graves disease/overactive thyroid for many years. Her medical treatment eradicated her thyroid and now it is underactive which can cause swelling in extremities. Lymphedema is a symptom not a diagnoses, doctors are worthless and want to blame everything on obesity, cigarettes, and food - when 90% of the food in this country is trash.

When you have graves disease your thyroid is first eradicated through radioactive iodine tablets. It isn't necessarily removed - unless there is a suspicious goiter, nodules, or potential cancer. When it is eradicated or removed the person is then in a hypothyroid (underactive thyroid) state, which causes, weight gain, fluid retention and a plethora of other symptoms that are similar Lymphedema. Pretty sure I know exactly what I'm talking about when 70% of the women in my family including myself have either Hasimimotos or Graves disease. 🤔🙄

I have had this for almost 5 years. It is beyond anything you can ever imagine. and there is NOT a lot of options out there unless you have medical insurance. Even with insurance the cost of compression garments alone will break the bank. I am physically deformed from this terrible disease.

Don’t forget that venous Insufficiency plays a part in lymphedema. I have both of them plus a history of blood clots. I also have diabetic neuropathy even though my diabetes been in remission since 2009 not on meds since then and once the damage is done by neuropathy its not reversible. Well between the pain of the swelling in my both of my lower leg limbs, feet, ankles. I also have the burning pain in both of them from the neuropathy. When your legs always feel like they are on fire, swollen it is hard to determine which one it is at times. I wear thigh high compression stockings, I have done lymphedema therapy, I am on furosemide to help with the swelling in my body and now I just started on low dose of lyrica as Gabapentin was the worst medication 1 pill sent me into a mental fog that I coulldnt’ function mental, not able to get my thoughts together, had no judgement ability to even drive.i I immediately stop taking it contact the dr told him I wasn’t taken this medication again I want to try a low dose of lyrica and so far 2 days no problems but i only started at night but the weekend I will start the one in morning. But with the other one I took 1 pill at night and it effected me the entire next day. I even had 2 full knee replacements about a year and half ago. I am also on blood thinner Eliquis and even had a filter put in back in 2009 to prevent any clots to getting to my lungs and still there today. Just sucks with they have no real treatment for lymphedema or neuropathy. I even done vein laser therapy, and sclero therapy where they inject into your veins to kill them off it left me with a blood clot, stains on my legs from it. I will never do it again because its very painful and only make things worst. Also have to watch out for cellulitis from it I had twice and was put on antibiotics many have to be on IV antibiotics but I caught it early so was able to do oral at home. There needs to be more help for us and a cure for it or more treatments to help us because I am tired of living in pain 24/7.

@Joann Evans Being on my feet to long causes me to swell more and also causes me more pain. I also suffer from diabetic neuropathy even though I been med free for 10 yrs for diabetes the neuropathy never went it away all it did was slow it down but now it seems now that I am turning 55 next month I can really feel the pain right now. I was just put on Lyrica for the nerve pain. He first put me on Gabapentin omg that med is horrible it literally stops you from mentally functioning as a human being! I never had a medication put me into that I mental felt in such a fog, couldn't barely stay awake even while on my iPad I kept dosing off, I couldn't get my train of thought together at all. I wasn't able to drive. I wouldn't let myself drive in that condition. I took it before bedtime and it effected me the entire next day. I only took 1 dose and never went back on it again. I contact my primary dr told him what happen he said to stop it and I asked for the lowest starting dose of Lyrica so started me on 25 mg 2 times a day but I started even slower taking 25 mg at bedtime for a few days then just added in the 2nd one on Saturday. I recently lost my beloved husband on Jan 8, 2019 he passed away at home in front of my son and I. He was on the couch, his eyes rolled back and he was gone! He was only 56 yrs old he would of been 57 yrs old next month 5 days before mine. We been together since July 1984, married in Dec 1986, had 2 children both are young adults on the autism spectrum and cognitive disabilities. He missed our kids high school graduation and college graduation. Our daughter just got her first job at goodwill started today. Son is still looking for that IT job yet. He even got honors with a 3.97 GPA but struggling finding an part time IT job. Anyways sorry to get off topic there. My mind is all over the place as its still hard to believe my husband is gone and his urn with his ashes sit on our fireplace. I still expect him to come walking thru that door. Found out he had pneumonia, severe artery disease and other health problems but he was refusing to go to the hospital. I miss him so much, I have only learn to live without him but my heart and my love will always be his only. I hate the spider veins, the ugly staining on my lower left leg due to the sclero therapy injections caused it they said it would lighten up and go away been since 2010-2012 when I had it done and it can be seen thru my compression stockings and I wear the beige ones thigh highs 20-30 but I may to switch up to 30-40 but insurance only pays for 3 pairs a year so may need to wait to next year. I down size my bed from queen size to a adjustable twin XL bed and omg that is such a great help with my legs and elevation. When I get back from running errands and my legs feel like they are on fire and swollen. I get in my adjustable bed, I grab the remote and up my legs go and also I can go into a lounge or even sitting position. It even vibrates to massage the back or legs. Well if I can't sleep with my beloved husband no more I didn't want a big bed anymore and this adjustable bed is just perfect for me! I just wish the pain would go away, the ugly veins, the brown stains on my leg, also I have scars on my knees due to I had 2 full knee replacements done in Dec 2016 and Jan 2017 did them 6 weeks apart from one another. I even had done lyphedoma therapy as well not much help. I even done therapy for my hands due to the swelling in them from the arthtritis and right fingers are started to get deformed especially the middle finger can really tell. Mornings are rough with them not wanting to work I can't barely get the gas cap off to put gas in the car. Just those little things really bug me. I know how my husband felt because he been disabled for years had 3 back surgeries, 2 neck surgeries and his diabetes neuropathy was so bad he was falling down so much almost daily before he passed away. He no longer suffering in pain but I sure feel his pain. I think he left it for me! Its hard to go on without him when you been with someone your entire adulthood. My life will never be the same again. I have to stay strong for our son and daughter who still need me as there legal guardian because of there disabilities they still need me to keep things in order and make decisions. But then when I got to deal with the pain and swelling. I wish they had a cure for this and I can't take any Advil or NSAIDs due to I have stage 2 kidney failure I was at stage 3 kidney failure. Plus I have history of blood clots so I take elliquis 2 times a day for the rest of my life even though I have a special filter that was put in 10 yrs ago and it will stay there until the day I am gone to be with my beloved husband. Wow sorry everyone I wrote a chapter of my life! I will understand if you need to delete it. My thoughts are scattered at times because I have a lot to deal with since my beloved husband had passed away so suddenly.

Robin Davis Now I'm wondering if I should go to the doctor for an invasive procedure. I too was given antibiotics and had to go back to the hospital because I almost went into an anaphalactic shock! I was in a Toxic relationship and I know this contibuted to bad health. I'm just gng to start a healthy diet starting today. Whenever I go to the doctor I get worse instead of better. My children's great grandfather was as healthy as a horse at 80 y.o. He went in for a broken leg..was given toxic meds...He lost his sense of taste... Then got Cancer...Then became depressed...stopped eating & died.

Yeah, and let's talk about how gluten and other inflammatory substances like milk can cause it too. I had been diagnosed with Primary (meaning they think it's congenital defect) lymphedema. No one in my family had experiences this. After removing gluten and milk I find that it's subsiding and reversing now. The lymphatic system only moves around the body through muscle action which she does not mention here. So, it is moving your body and muscles that causes the lymph fluids (filtered out from the blood) to move around the body. So, sitting all day long is really bad for the body.

@-- I had highly scaly skin on my shin and my legs were just blowing up like balloons. It was very scary. My daughter connected a skin condition on her hands with gluten allergy and she kept urging me to stop eating it. I had a test done for Ciliacs but it was negative yet I was still showing inflammatory markers. I had arthritis in my knees really bad. I started to take a liquid fish oil and it helped ease the pain in my knees. But after pretty much cutting out about 97% of the gluten I found I was forgetting to take the fish oil because my knees felt great. The skin on my shin looks great and my legs don't swell the same way. There is residual damage that could take years to go away since it took years to accumulate. I had a pair of athletic pants that at one paint were so tight on my legs I almost could not get them on. Now they slide on easily. Many of my old jeans don't fit because my legs got so big. The lymphatic system becomes congested and doesn't drain fluid from the body. It also causes fat build up because fat can't be removed. https://www.livestrong.com/article/488892-gluten-intolerance-edema/

May I suggest work of Dr. Terry Wahls who wrote a book and cured herself of Multiple sclerosis, but her diet is good for all diseases. Also Aajonus Vonderplanitz. Website is wewant2live.com. both useful. They contradict each other but also agree on some things. Important to think for yourself. You know your body better than anyone else, even the doctors.

It's so sad to read these comments and see how shallow some people can be. My daughter has had this condition since birth and has had to endure years of teasing and finger-pointing and people talking about her physical appearance with no compassion for recognizing it as a disease. Everyone seems to open their hearts to those suffering from cancer or other more common ailments, but the silent suffering my daughter has endured has brought me to tears many times. So when she was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago, we knew she was going to be a warrior through that as well. I am a proud mom!

I have Primary Lymphoedema, first in my left leg at 27, then my right leg followed at 34. Its damn uncomfortable and painful at times, but good hosiery and skin care is key. I’m lucky I live in the UK and go to a special clinic getting my hosiery on prescription with the prepaid medical certificate, so it’s heavily subsidised by my taxes. These things are NOT cheap and they are not like the knee highs you buy at the pharmacy for air travel! I use Kenisiology tape and toe compression too. Wendy has been through A LOT lately and this can really mess with her mind and self esteem until you make peace with it. I hope she can find good maintenance strategies and surround herself with people full of love and light.

At least she’s lighter than me in skin colour, so she may find something that looks pretty good! My only option is to wear black ones, or look like I’m casket ready! 😂

Although my feet aren't 'cute' any more (and they were!) now they're 'interesting' and party-trick ready for finger impressions when I don't have my tights on. I have also learned the hard way to always put the tights on while seated... made myself laugh with some EPIC faceplants!
