Can you share about important beach/on the water tips? As someone who's had lifeguards and doctors around me all my life, it's always something I am conscious of. Aka chest compressions first unless it's a drowning victim. Then it's 2 breaths, then chest compressions to the beat of "Stayin Alive". Also things like "don't get in the water. Throw the other human a thing that floats. Or a rope"

Sometimes i go to sleep after 26h. Mostly i sleep at day because at night i think about things than make me think even more so i just can not fall asleep. I leave my house maybe 3 times a year.

You would have fun with my drug list as I'm on enough painkillers to knock out a small elephant lol. I'm currently on fentanyl patches, liquid oxycodone, gabapentin, amitriptyline, paracetamol and Rivaroxaban.

I have DDD and a herniated disc (also sciatica, sacroillitius, arthritis, and bone spurring) and my back pain could be debilitating at times. Doctors kept giving me injections, which did not work and pain management gave me gabapentin with no results. Turns out i had fibroids on my uterus growing out towards my spine-had a hysterectomy and back pain went from an 8 to a 2. Specialists seem to refuse to see the body as a whole and won't consider any possibility that is not directly related to their area of expertise.

I feel like what was said in this video is unnecessarily obvious to an extent. However, Dr Mike, people differ. One person may only need 6 hours of sleep while another 8 or 10. That's the one thing that irritates me about doctors, is that they think one human body is just like all the rest. What works for one will work for the other. In my 30 years I've been to numerous doctors and specialists and have only come across 3 competent ones (also, not attacking Dr Mike here...)

"You need 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night as an adult"
Me looking at my inflammation disorder, chronic pain disorder, migraines and chronic insomnia...okay.
Fun fact: I can't take sleeping pills to help regulate my sleep because I am hyper sensitive to them so the lightest ones available (designed to knock you out for not more than six hours with a half life of a further four hours) will put me in a coma for 12 to 16 hours.
I used to be able to take a synthetic version of the natural hormone that regulates your diurnal cycle OTC, but then our medical governing agency decided to take it from OTC to schedule 6 (?) overnight with no recourse. So now that is not available to me.
At one time I used strong pain pills like stilpane to knock me out because they only put me into a coma for four or five hours, but now they give me duodenal ulcers so...can't use them any more.
Tried exercise but the exercise induced asthma killed that idea and now the postural syncope makes it unsafe anyway.
So yeah....."need" means nothing to my stubborn body which apparently just doesn't like to sleep. *Ever*

It is a disease with a potentially deadly outcome. While one might not draw the same connection between depression & death as one might do with cancer, having lived through a case of severe depression, and having lost a friend to her taking her own life, I see things differently. If you break your arm, get a cast, if you have cancer, maybe chemotherapy will help. So DO NOT HESITATE to get your depression treated. It is a disease and not you not being able to deal with your feelings. Get help as soon as possible, the earlier the better.

Dr. Mike on Labor Day I dislocated my right shoulder. The ER doctor put it back in place. One month later my right arm is 90% improved, but I noticed a significant shrinkage in my right bicep 🙁 Over two months later and I'm still trying to recover my right arm mass. Is it normal to lose muscle mass so quickly?

When I was growing up I was on a lot of meds a chronic inhaler a rescue inhaler a allergy tablet specifically for my asthma a normal allergy tablet and an antipsychotic. I grew out of all of those and due to that habit as well as a family history of addiction I am EXTREMELY disinclined to take normal over the counter meds such as ibuprofen aspirin and tylenol. Well due to pushing myself in rock climbing I ended up causing what I later found out was just inflammation that ibuprofen could have fixed. I figured it was just muscle pain (extremely common in rock climbing) so I kept pushing through it and expecting it to go away as I got stronger.

                                                                                        It didn't

By the time I went to the doctor I found out that due to neglecting to seek treatment for what was originally a minor injury I had damaged the joints and actually caused some nerve damage aging my joints about 10 years and acquiring a tremor in my hands.

Moral of the story GO SEE A DOCTOR even if it's just for a consultation (Some insurances let you do it over the net for 0 co-pay) it's better to be safe than permanently crippled

Enough that it was nearly impossible for her to walk. She kept complaining about it with us but, whenever we told her to go see someone, she would insist that it was "this or that". Finally, she started going after about a month (mostly cause she ran out of time to take off work), and it turns out that it was a B12 deficiency. Now that she's finished the shots she still has leg pain, and won't listen when we tell her to go in again. (There are reasons... she's lost her insurance and job since.) We aren't doctors but are kinda convinced she caused some damage to her nerves by waiting so long the first time.
