I hate the term "cultural appropriation" when I see it as "cultural celebration." People copying beautiful things from other cultures is not a bad thing, it's a visual appreciation. A good thing.

Just a bit of an update. After finding out that these were all about private labels, that James did not create this palette either in his version or the one Wet n Wild is now selling I figure that I was not going to end up with something at least as good as JC's palette and ordered it the minute it went on sale on their site. I got it several days ago and not having a JC palette I nudged my girlfriend that does into loaning me her's for a couple of hours. I went through JC's demo of the palette and one think I noticed was that the swatches he seemed to have been re-swatching were all colors in his palette that did not swatch well at all although they did perform well. I was a bit disappointed, having never used it before, on how it felt in comparison to some of Morphe's newer palette out now but JC's palette is a few years old and its possible the formula has been tweaked a couple of times or I would assume it was as that is sort of how the industry goes, trying to get a little better each time. The colors were really nice but the palette was less than I expected from all the raves it go when it fist released but, again, that was a awhile ago and may have been that the competition was not what I am used to in the palettes I have gotten in the past 3-4 months.

Then I gave WnW a go. While side by side there are colors who shades do differ a bit but I think I understand the reason for that. Some swatched really well and a few did not and the few that did not were actually ones that had not on the JC palette either, but there were less of them that did not switch correctly. The one big difference between the JC palette and WnW's that I can see is that the WnW palette does not contain these "pressed pigments" and so there would be shade differences and that is because all of the eye shadows are eyeshadow that use FDA approved pigments in the formula and can be use around the eyes. "Pressed Pigments" are what cosmetic companies call eyeshadows that use all the same ingredients as the other shadows but contain some or all pigments not approved by the FDA for use in eyeshadows. Unlike JC's explanation that they were just the pigment pressed in the pan - which was totally wrong as they are pressed the same way and are not pure pigment - - its just how the cosmetic companies differentiate between the two and can carry a warning not to use the pressed pigment eyeshadows around the eyes as it could be a danger to use them there because of the fact fact that many pigments not approved for cosmetics of certain types. like eyeshadows, because these pigments are a carcinogenic risks, can cause eye damage and infections as well as irritation, hives, skin damages and other issues because of the chemicals used instead of more natural pigments. So the colors that JC has as pressed pigments are a bit different but so close as to not really be an issue when they are safe to be used use for eye makeup and not just body decoration. When you get a palette with a quarter or more shadows listed as pressed pigments you are getting a palate that 25% is for your body not your eyes. I would rather have a different shade then a bad eye infection or worse.

As for the texture I think the shadows were much softer and smoother and blended as well or better than the previous palette sold as the JC's palette. One thing I really liked was that with the JC palette pretty much no matter what you did there is no subtle use for it which for me means a limited usage as I don't go out with heavy looking eye makeup all the time, however the WnW allows you to go from a subtle wash of color to as deep as you want and actually i was able to get many of the colors to go several steps above what you could pack on the from the JC palette and still get some nice bending. Fall out? Yup about the same in both palettes and about the usual amount for a Morphe palette.

The other difference is that some of the colors are now shimmers instead of mattes which I liked as I already have those in mattes in several other Morphe and other palettes and like that I now have them in complementary shimmers too. They did get rid of a couple of colors that were in the palette that were sort of 'redundant' shades that when built up were pretty close to identical so a bit of wasted space and they also got rid of those pigger pans in the middle row which I hate the look of in any palette and so could add additional pans. I am very happy with my new palette and now I am hoping that some of Jaclyn's collabs, such as the vault, turn out to be more of Jiaxing's private labels and, although they may update them some maybe when Morphe lets the exclusive go on them WnW will pick up the palette and we will have a nice alternative to that.

Hair style is fine. If African women are offended by cultural appropriation tell them to top wearing wigs and hair extensions that are from other cultures themselves. Sick of dumb shit already and the HYPOCRISY!

Who is being sent home for braids??? I work for a major fortune 500 company that has been around for 100+ yrs. People wear braids and dreads and no one is being sent home. It is the same as black women wearing straight, long hair. Hair is hair. It's not that deep.

I think people are going a bit overboard cultural inappropriation. If she likes that hair style, let her wear that hair style. I've seen non-Germans wearing Dirndls. I don't care. I may scoff at the low quality of the Amazon Dirndl compared to a good German manufacturer (LOL), but if they want to wear it, let them wear it.

I do think that we should open honest dicussions about how hair impacts a society from a cultura stand point. For example: cornrows and dread locks are often seen as "unprofessional" in the corporate world, even though those hairstyles are protective and manageable for black people's hair. It is a form of racism to requrie black people to wear their hair differently but not bat an eye when a white employee comes in wearing cornrow or dreadlock extensions.

Hair is also a huge part of a person's identity. That's why the german's shaved the heads of the Jewish pepole they put in internment camps. Why prisons in the earlier days required inmates to have shaved hair. And why the military requires soliders to wear crew cuts. It is a way to break someone down .

So, in the case of the issues Nikkita is trying to bring forward, I don't think that she is appropriating culture. I think people want to take down certian YouTubers and constantly cirtucalte drama so they attack the first thing they have a problem with.

But if her goal was to start the conversations we are having now she was successful. But, like with any attempt to really dig into these issues it may appear as misguided to viewers who want to find a problem with her.

Nakita just looks weird with that wig on. (I don’t like braided wigs in general) The braids are too big for my taste. She looks like she has a balloon shaped head with a mop on top. It sort of makes her look like she’s partially bald at the hairline and the hair is hanging on at the middle of her head for dear life. I don’t know if I’d consider this cultural appropriation because it looks too ugly and I’m “offended” that the wig looks that bad😂. But also, I don’t get what her being Native American has to do with those braids. They braided their hair in an entirely different style.

Did you think this made you Japanese? Erm, no. Did you think you were trying to steal Japanese culture? Erm, no. Did you think wearing said kimono was insulting to anyone that’s Japanese? Erm, no. Think on that you ridiculous SJW’s. Cultural appropriation is a made up turn by idiots to get their precious little feelings hurt, to gain attention (“wow, you’re soooo socially aware!!”), or more importantly, to divide us as human beings even more. As a white woman, I’m not at all insulted when a black woman dyes her hair blond or straightens it. Why? Because it’s a fucking hairstyle! A white person can’t own it, just like a black person can’t own dreads. These are just things. They’re not who you are or who you’re trying to be. Rant over... ✌🏻

To us it's not just hair. You can go home and pop that wig off and have people say in the comments how beautiful it looks while I have heard quite the opposite and offending comments about my hair, MY CULTURE. So go on and benefit from that double standard because your not raising awareness, your just showing a privilege we don't have, and still fight for. If you wanted to bring awareness there are many ways to go about this, like doing research about how braids. Like how for one different hairstyles in tribes would show your social status, etc and how when slavery came and how that affected our hair.

It shows her lack of knowledge obviously. Let's talk about how she is BARELY around Black Women or Men..... But your stylist thought it was ohkay to slap that wig on your head. Let's be honest she try's to portray herself as a light skin mix black girl, But all your friends are .... Non-black. Braids in the black culture have a way deeper meaning than " just a protective style". Does she know how many young black girls get sent home from school for having braids because the administrative staff doesn't like them for nooooo reason. Not a reason at all, look it up on YouTube. Braids were used in the Underground Railroad as a map to get to the north. Braids were used to hid food, so they could eat while working in the fields for long periods of time with NO BREAKS. It's not just a " protective style" it's a culture for us to reconnect with our ancestors. It helped us regrow our hair after slave masters ripped our hair from the root / scalped us. So it ain't just a " protective style" , it has history that A LOT OF NON BLACKS know nothing about/ don't care to know about. I have NEEEVVVEERRRRR seen her hangout with Black women ..... But she wants to be around hip hop culture so she can snag a black man and say " yea I got kicked out a famous rappers house but he told me to come back later" ..... She better fuck outta here with that weak ass explanation!! Let's seriously track how many black people she is around and not just for photos, like actually their friends!!!!.... I'll be waiting for responses 🤔🙄

Isn't that being insensitive to Egyptians? All these women wearing eyeliner wings!...I mean...isn't it just a bit silly. How did we go from "don't wear black face" to "don't ever incorporate any other cultures fashion into your personal style EVER??? This is why Trump is your president. You take things too far sometimes. Nikita looked smokin hot! Love you Nick!! 🤗❤
