How Deadpool Changed Movies And You Barely Noticed

Deadpool didn't just shake up the status quo for action adventures starring guys in capes it went the extra mile and set a lot of cinematic precedents, some of them quite subtly. if you can believe it. This is how Deadpool changed movies and you barely noticed.

Deadpool's marketing is basically a movie's worth of entertainment in and of itself. Seriously, from Mother's Day gags to billboards that shouldn't exist, the folks behind Deadpool pulled out all the stops to make sure hype would be at its absolute peak by the time the superhero hit the big screen.

What made it so special isn't just its excessive, over-the-top humor, but also its not-so-subtle meta slant. Befitting the character, Deadpool's marketing made sure to tap into fourth-wall-breaking territory, showcasing a degree of self-awareness that elated the meme generation.

This movie knew its target demographic so well that it transcended its own status, resulting in Deadpool's pre-release antics being shared as entertainment rather than advertising. This led to an unprecedented degree of organic word of mouth, which likely played a huge part in Deadpool's debut as the one of the biggest R-rated openings of all time.

So what if Justice League has A-listers like The Flash, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman? No one cares about them or that movie; B-listers are the new hot property. After all, Deadpool was only as good as its red-suited merc and his ensemble of backup dancers, which included beloved comic book characters like… uhh hang on, let us check our notes Weasel… and Negasonic Teenage Warhead… Keep watching the video to learn how Deadpool changed movies and you barely noticed!

No mention on Origins' Deadpool ? As if it had nothing to do with the effort put into 2016's Deadpool ?

Loved Deadpool. I loved it 3000. BUT ... I think it's popularity was responsible for the bad humor of Thor Ragnarok. Which while okay could have been much better. Thor quipping Deadpool style especially at the beginning was annoying. It was like Captain America telling Limericks.

"How Deadpool changed movies" and you only give 2 examples at the very end to illustrate your final point. If you can't, or won't, point out examples to prove each of your previous points, then they're not real arguments on Deadpool's influence on the industry. If the marketing was so on point that it's an influencer, what are the following movies that copied that marketing style? And Iron Man was a B lister - only comic book fans knew who he was before the movie. And what other movies showed the power of fan hype positively influencing the studio? "No one but it sets a new precedent." Weak. Help out those students with useless English majors and hire them to write your short essays for you.

I noticed a few ways how deadpool has influenced a lot of superhero and action comedy movies.
Most obvious was suicide squad. You know that all those re-edits and re-shoots were to make it more like deadpool.
I counted like 7 music-based scenes reminiscent of deadpool in the first 15 minutes or so of that movie.

The whole Deadpool comic was created as a one-off gag to fill in time in Marvel's "off season"... no one had ANY idea the character would go supernova like it did. It broke every rule in comics... the protagonist was a disgusting person, the 4th wall breaks, the constant shift between hero and villain, the total absence of respect for taboos and norms, the total absence of respect for all the other beloved Marvel characters... readers were starved for irreverence of that level. Reynolds understood that on the cellular level, and knew if he gave the fans a taste of it in the leaked ComicCon promo, they would go go to the ends of the earth to make sure it happened.

Y'all haven't seen a lot of movies and TV shows, have you?
