Technical details about what we're doing:
We're working on a time-series problem called a Sequence Classification. Recurrent Neural Networks called Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks are good for that. It’s what they use for natural language processing because it can remember context from the sentence you’ve just spoken. In this case its used to analyze not just the current timestamp of data, but what has been happening for the last 20 - 250 ms, which helps to reject false alarms.

@Chad Green keep consumer costs down and it's a great idea. Don't just jack up the price and say "Isn't your life worth the cost". Of course it is but as you say a riving knife is likely just as good and what $2.00 maybe ?

ramzekeleviathan : You're right about using a wedge, but I would never use metal near a spinning circular saw blade, because that metal will go through safety glasses like a hot knife through butter. I really enjoy my eyes. Since you're working with wood, use a wooden wedge or plastic, since it's so abundant. I'm just saying.

@ramzekeleviathan knots in wood can cause kickback

@Schwurbel kickback is the result of the saw flinging wood or the saw it's self back or forward. 🤦

How would you use this on a table saw. Table saws dont move, and their are many more fingers lost with a table vs. circular saw. Only thing is since it doesn't move, The gyro, and acc. willl not work, correct?

hmmm, two guys with NO shop experience. If you put downward weight on the saw while pushing it forward you will have way more response time to kickback. No one ever uses a saw in the fashion that you just tested.

Omg this is amazing!!! I have had this happen many times. Thank God I haven't lost any fingers, or skin at all, but great idea, and this should be mandatory!

What a stupid experiment, of course it kicked up, it had no-one holding it and absolutely no weight on it. They are literally designed to be as light as possible.

Good work. We always have new guys and try to teach them the dangers but they get comfortable and an accident can happen. I’d definitely use this to keep the newer guys safe. Absolutely

K, firstly if you work construction you know to avoid this by placing wood properly, secondly you feel the tension on the blade, telling you if your in danger of a kickback

No 1 security, never pull anything dangerous against you

This saw spins in the wrong direction if you want a saw to pull
And I have never seen a saw where you use it in drag factor

The only pushback I have is from the saw table when I'm almost done.
And that pushback can't be fixed with an AI and gyro sensor when the machine has much more weight than the material.

I love the channel I too live in Huntsville Alabama

most of this can be avoided by letting the blade guard do its thing and not have it pinned back

Since it's software it will only be a 5 year patent. If you can figure out how to make an outlet that will improve the safety of the saw (or perhaps a battery compartment with the electronics in it), then I think you can get a 20 year utility patent.

Know how your wood will move and you can prevent binding. Set your wood and area up so you're balanced, comfortable and safe.

I much prefer saws without any brake. That way when you have to make a long rip cut and let the saw stop to adjust your footing, grip,, etc, it doesn't torque and make a sloppy cut.

If a VW and Semi get in collision, both vehicles change speed and vectors, just different amounts.
