My God! Tyrion truly was a fucking idiot!

Why did so many support this stupid plan of his? Is everyone suddenly into gradual emancipation? So that the slave owners don't have to suffer the consequences of exploiting others? Fuck that! I HATED Tyrion's plan. Not only that, it sucked and truly underestimated how the slavers were determined to regain their slaves and keep them. I never realized until that moment how truly stupid and illusional he was.

Tyrion's plan reminds me of the elitist who might detest slavery, but does not want the slave owners or elite to pay the consequences for ending it, let alone for allowing it to exist in the first place. Like Missandei and Grey Worm, I have nothing but contempt for his plan.

...... giving slavers prostitutes as a parting gift? Don’t they already have easy access to that.... since they have slaves....

Tyrion perhaps read that from Robert Baratheon. Spared many

Tyrion is stupid to think that the Masters want slavery only bc of money

The plan WAS great. Or at least the carrot part. Give them back slavery for 7 years is a great way to entice them to your idea. But there was no stick. No indicator of a change in policy regarding HOW the slaves would be treated, no mention of an economy post slavery, not even a threat should any of them betray the accords. It was too clean, not thoroughly revised and haphazardly presented. Much like the way the showrunners led the many plot threads from season 5 onwards, good ideas with crappy execution

The problem isnt a feudal noble to think he is better than slavers. The problem where D&D comparing Tyrion to Lincoln in interviews like the two retarded halfwits they are. After that I knew the rest of GoT would be an idiotic clusterfuck.

As seasons advance Tyrion became more and more stupid.
And the worst thing is that he congratulated himself.
This was a ghost of what Tyrion was.

Tyrion’s arrogance bothers me so much here. He thinks by getting the last word he controls the situation. He rushed the situation otherwise it could’ve succeeded.

This scene triggers a lot of emotions for me. This is how it feels sometimes talking to white people about minority issues.

That scene is so underated. Slavery is not a good economic system, that's why the US stopped it, not because of civil rights, but for money. The Masters shoulf have accepted these terms, it was in their own interest.

So, how again would the slavers be meeting with no armed guards at their side? Yeah, no way.

How very Abraham Lincoln of Tyrion... He wants slavery gone but is willing to compromise with the slavers to get there. The seven year plan is nothing original. The British Empire did something similar in their colonies, and compensating masters for freed slaves is about as old as slavery. So, nothing new suggested by Tyrion here, just straight ripped from history. In fact, this entire scene is very reminiscent of Lincoln debating the abolitionist members of his party, like Charles Sumner. Unfortunately, in both cases, the abolitionists, here represented by Greyworm and Missandei, are right. The slavers are not going to give up their slaves just because they'd still be rich without them. Only by force will that happen.

This was a stupid plan. Stupid of Tyrion to trust the masters and not listen to Grey Worm and Missandei. And going against Daenerys vision of no more slavery by saying they could keep it for 7 years. Daenerys should have fired Tyrion after she returned and had to burn the masters ship in the BOTB episode. Tyrion's plan was a complete fiasco and he suffered zero consequences for it, in fact he was rewarded by being name Hand of the Queen. WTF? I guess the writers needed him to remain close to her to destroy Daenerys with more stupid plans in Season 7 and 8.

Deal was doomed for failure. Not because of the inherit evil of the slavers, but instead what Tyrion did here. Dany, previously, never did "real" negotiations, instead preferring the "Submit or Die" approach. In addition, she met with her foes personally. So there is a sudden shift. Tyrion argued from a position of weakness here, giving a huge, long term concession for the request of "Stop killing our soldiers". Then sweetened the pot by giving them prostitutes. What the slavers could take from this is that Dany's forces are weak because otherwise there would be no negotiations since she prefers the military approach. By going off what the Slavers state when negotiating her surrender, they gathered information on everyone there, noting the Dragons being locked up being prominent. I imagine these factors led to them launching their assault.
-A previous Warhawk comes to the negotiating table after enduring a long period of guerrilla warfare.
-Said warhawk is not meeting with them as she does with everyone. She instead sends a new individual who is speaking on her behalf.
-The new individual chooses bribery and appeasement over threats of force. As opposed to the "Submit or Die" strategy of the past.
All of those factors suggest weakness. So Tyrion's deal "7 years to stop slavery and do something else" looks fair, but what Tyrion was offering in exchange was not killing them all. "Do this or else". However threats in diplomacy only work if you can actually follow through on the threats. This meeting revealed that Dany's coalition was not capable of following through on the threat, which is why the meeting was happening in the first place. This weakness is exposed when the Slavers do launch their attack and the city was guaranteed to fall until Dany showed up with a new army and could control her dragons again.
Tyrion didn't think this through. The deal looks more than fair. But reality was that the whole ordeal exposed how weak of a hand Tyrion was holding. That's why the Slavers launched a full assault when they did. If they destroyed Dany's forces, then there's no one opposing their interest. The balance of power shifted in their favor.

But Varys does say in season 6 that the slave masters have regained control of both Astapor and Yunkai. So we are told that status quo returned to these cities, though we are left to draw our own conclusions about it.

I mean, no sooner did she leave Astapor than the council she had set up was overthrown by a man who styled himself his imperial majesty. In a way it is like Afghanistan and what will likely happen there when the US finally leaves. The show is telling us that a violent overthrow of a regime from the outside, however well-intentioned, rarely leads to anything better in the end.
