the regular season is meaningless. they should be able to rest their stars for the whole season if they want.

NHL calendar has as many games and you don't have this problem. (You do have the free-agency problem though.)

Video made all the points I wanted to make. Just would like a bit more about how the league is also shifting blame off of advertisers and concentrating all its efforts and hardship on so few people. Plus, how all that time away from home literally means time away from the players' homes and families. Rest means physical rest, ability to take care of life necessities, or even just time with their own kids.

I spent a lot of money (2 weeks paycheck) to sit as close as I could to the court and watch Anthony Davis play a few years ago when he came to Orlando. He skipped the game with a minor injury.

I spent the next couple hours yelling for AD to go to the lakers. He gave me that goody smile as he turned back and locked eyes with me.

I understand why the coaches rest the players, but this guy’s ideology shows through when he laughably referred to the NBA as anti labor.

reduce the league season to 73 games. home and away to every team in the league PLUS another game against teams in your division. cuts it by 9 games plus adds value to division games.

The league ain’t tryna rest the stars cause that’s how they get paid and the bench players get paid by how they played in the minutes they get

Just ask the players if they are willing to make less money per season to play a shorter one. Then ask, the fans to pay even more at the games because the players didn't want to make less money...

The NBA regular season should be at most 72 games. Maybe slightly lower.

Back-to-backs are unnecessary and counter-productive.  They actually reduce the exposure you bring to a team.  I have worked in sports broadcasting.  We would cover the four major sports (actually, five major sports, because we did talk MLS).  If our NBA team played on a Tuesday and Thursday, on Wednesday morning we would cover Tuesday night's game.  On Thursday morning, we would preview Thursday night's game.  On Friday morning, we would talk about Thursday night's game.  In a back-to-back, you actually get less coverage, because you miss the chance to preview.  Of course, the reasons you mentioned are more important, but the NBA should be about player safety and promotion.

                                              Well here's what i think:
All the sports analysts are soooo retarded. I never knew there was so many skip bayless' ruining the nba. Throwing players and coaches under the bus because of i still don't know exactly what it was they were trying to point out. There was even a guy that tried (and failed on so many levels that i now hate pro basketball even more) to claim resting players would be "a prosecutable offense." In what industry would that be breaking a law? All these former players don't know anything but "the glory days" so all they see is " main players" and "other." There's a reason the nba has more than 10 guys playing in the league, and there's a reason why lebron isn't on a team by himself. You want real solutions, stop pretending that an 82 game season is as easy to accomplish as writing your name, stop sending teams on crazy "road trip" schedules, and for the love of God, stop forcing players to kill themselves just because you're too damn lazy to fix a horrible scheduling system. It's not the players fault like every "analyst" would like us all to believe. If these are analysts, then I'm the next president of china. (Which would be the most impossible thing in the world because I'm pretty darn certain they don't have a president, I'm not from china, and even if they had a system like the us has set in place, i don't turn 35 for like another 10+ years.)

And Lebron isnt playing, then that feels like false advertising from the organization. If you deliberately dilute the on field/ court product, than fans who don’t want that new product should be given some sort of refund.

I am expecting him to be playing that night. Objectively speaking, resting players is very smart. But at the end of the day sports is just another form of entertainment, it has no bearing on our lives and incomes so the NBA should give the people who are fueling their organization exactly what they want

They play far fewer games, stars and players are expected to play unless injured or suspended, and they train in the off-season. I think the NBA can take notes from the NHL and NFL. Keep the stars in, don't overwork your players with countless games, and space games naturally to allow a healthy recovery. This isn't a player or coach problem, this a grass roots NBA one.

I don't care about NBA players resting. The team isn't an individual star, it's the whole unit that performs. If you're there to watch LeBron play and only LeBron, why the Hell should the other four players be on the court at all? You're here for LeBron, right? They shouldn't be there at all. You wear the jersey with the team's name in front. It isn't "Lillard Trailblazers" or "Westbrook Thunder". If you want it that way, I propose a separate league of 1v1 competitions over 48 minutes. You're not there for anyone else, so why should they bother, right?
