Dr Jason Fung,, brilliant man. How proud your parents must be of you and your achievements. You are saving lives far more than mainstream doctors. I repeat your parents must be very proud of their enormously clever and courageous son.

I have struggled with obesity and an extremely unhealthy relationship with food...recently a relative reported he lost over 40 pounds with intermittent fasting, a ketogenic diet, and exercise...he was really excited, said he feels great and the weight is literally falling off...I lost over 100 pounds in 2013 in a pretty unhealthy way, so over the last few years I have sat depressed on the couch as the weight just came and came. I hadn't changed any habits and of course I exercised horribly infrequently if at all. I sank deeper into a completely dark depression. I knew I was not disciplined enough to ever successfully take the weight off. I couldn't look in the mirror or let any pics of me as I just couldnt face the reality I had created for myself. So of course when my cousin spoke so highly of this IF diet, I had to check it out. Long story short, the first video that came up in YouTube was Dr. Fung's...after the first video I was convinced this deserved some looking into, after 10 of them I was pretty obsessed and extremely fired up. I haven't watched all of his videos but they are what intrigued me to really look into this completely different type of lifestyle than I had ever known, I was positive that this was finally a program I could be successful in. I could ffinally change my life. No looking back since, I fast for 36 hrs then allow myself 1500 calories over the next 12 hours and so on. I know it seems aggressive but I have 100 pounds to lose. So far i feel better everyday, physically and emotionally. I am finding that some days I am not hungry enough to even eat my allotted portions. TONS of water is super important and you either need to add some sea or Himalayan pink salt to your water or but an electrolyte supplement to replace your sodium, potassium, and magnesium. This along with plenty of water should decrease your chance of getting the "flu" during the first couple of weeks as your body adjusts. I am so stoked, I tell everyone I meet. It isnt for everybody but if it can get me to happily give up my beloved IPA and the thought of fast food makes me wonky. This is not just a diet, it is a complete change of your lifestyle. I have 80 pounds to go but I feel so good I dont really care. If you stick to the "rules" you will see what I mean. Best of luck on your endeavours

WOW this I can`t agree with , I think Dr Mcdougall starch solution is much more sound and healthy way to live and to protect ones organs this is killing people this idea Atkins style of eating and losing mostly water and no real fat loss or health...Eating foods such us unprocessed and just like nature invented it is the way to go , POTATOES , RICE , SWEET POTATOES , CORN , BEANS , GREENS , FRUITS AND VEGETABLES , I have never seen a fat person in china !! until recently due to the westrernised diets they have taken on ,,,,

My pre diabetic blood work reversed to normal after IF and low carb. Also lost 10 lbs and feel better all in one month. Do 16/8 and listen to Dr Fung for knowledge and motivation. I am housebound 72 and don't excersize but hope to progress as fasting reverses arthritis so looking forward to seeing improvement. I am 72

Wow. We type 2 diabetics CAN cure ourselves.

Dr. Fung. I am just beginning to research and understand this way of living after an 80 year old friend of mine told me that through this diet plan, she had been able to stop taking insulin after using it for 30 years. I had gastric bypass about 9 years ago and have been struggling the last couple of years as my thermostat has reset about 20 lbs above my goal. Are there any adjustments that I should make to the diet being 9 years post gastric bypass. I lost over 100 lbs by using surgery because, of course, we did not have this knowledge you are providing. God bless you in your efforts.

Where can I get more information on "steroid" shots and weight gain. I had two within 2 weeks, I am doing OMAD with 1400-1500 calories and I am steadily gaining weight, after I had lost 50 lbs... SO very frustrating, since I am still sticking to my regimen. Gained 8 lbs so far in the month after the shots.

You may not have subcutaneous fat, but if you're symptomatic for diabetes you have visceral fat which is the kind of fat that kills you. Fat is produced in the liver when you take excessive amounts of carbohydrates. Your liver becomes a fat factory, if you will. The lever stores about 100 grams of glucose (glycogen) consumed that your body isn't immediately using, so if you are consuming more than this you're liver produces fat and it takes up room in the liver (fatty liver) and gets shipped out to its buddies the other internal organ this leads to all kinds of bad stuff can lead to heart disease. Reduce carbs to zero until you get rid of that visceral fat during your re-feeds when you fast. Buy keto strips to keep yourself accountable. If your showing color on your strips throughout the day your burning off that fat on your organs.

Fast, Fast, Fast. as long as you can. 72 hour fasts have the maximum benefits not just for fat burning and diabetes, but also autophagy benefits, general feeling of wellness, illnesses don't as affect you as significantly; having a 2 year old he brings in all kinds of viruses from daycare it hasn't affected me one bit once I began fasting, whereas before I started fasting about 2 months ago I got all kinds of mucus and sinus congestion and coughing. Haven't coughed a single time since I started fasting. Also I lost 40 lbs, and have a heart rate recovery of 50-60bpm in one minute, resting heart rate down from 80bpm to <60bpm. hope this helps. good luck on your fasting journey.

Bless you, Dr. Fung. I've been a type 2 diabetic for over 25 years (I'm 72) and I just read both your books on Obesity and Diabetes and started fasting 16 to 18 hours a day every day, and increased my intake of healthy fats and eliminated all processed foods.
In two weeks my pre- and post-prandial blood sugar readings have dropped 20 to 30 points at very reading!

It was my body’s way of storing fat for the winter for warmth . I gained 30 pounds in Alaska and took me ten years to lose it.

Most often you lose the weight and than when you have reached your goal, you begin to reward your self with the foods you missed while dieting. Soon after you fall out of those good habits that led to the weight loss and fall back into your old practices. That's the reality. The key is to stick with what led to the weight loss, period. Whether that's keto, intermittent fasting or both. I'm not a scientist and I don't dispute what Dr. Fung is saying. I'm just making an observation about human nature.

                                                                            for your heart .
Grape seed extract (GSE) is simply an extract derived from grape seeds. The extract itself is great for testosterone production, as it’s one of the few natural substances that can block the conversion of testosterone into estrogen. In other words, GSE is a potent aromatase enzyme blocker.

But on top of that, grape seed extract is also great at increasing nitric oxide levels. Studies on humans show that it drops blood pressure and heart rate, and animal studies show that it activates the natural nitric oxide synthase of the body and increases NO levels by 138% when taken at doses of 100mg/kg .
                                                                            ..don't take over 400 mg. a day!
Also organic celery is good for your heart .

                                                                            3. Vitamin C + Garlic

It’s a well known medical fact that vitamin C increases nitric oxide production in the body, and that it also protects the molecules. Garlic, on the other hand, is a natural vasodilator and filled with natural nitrates, and it also contains a compound called quercetin, which is linked to increased NO levels in various studies. Few studies have also found that garlic is more effective at dropping high blood pressure than most drugs on the market.
Taking cayenne hot peper, and Cq10 brings oxygen to the heart !...and Taking B-6 also is very good for heart Disease (200 mg. a day)
Don't eat damaged fats such as fried foods , mayonaise, penutbutter, no salad dressing, no canola oil , no corn oils ..are all damaged fats and toxic to the liver .Only use Extra olive oil and coconut oils .

I need to get more at the moment but used it as mouthwash then to kill coxsackie virus when my youngest caught it from another child. I caught it too. Applied all over skin and it killed it in days, no fingernails lost! It is like coconut oil, anti fungal, anti bacterial. Aryuvedic med says it can help your body get warm and burn hotter if your doshas are unbalanced, in India they eat it and put it on the skin.
Coconut oil is great to. I used it to kill ringworm on my other child years ago by applying it to infected area multiple times a day. It makes my hands flare red though, so I'm not keen on ingesting it since I may be allergic?
