The only reason to show them is if you think they might catch it if the store ripped YOU off (that's why Costco checks). Otherwise, fuck 'em. I say, in a friendly way, something like "No thanks, I already checked my receipt." Which forces them to consider a logical, rude, argumentative, anti-Customer-Is-Always-Right response like, "Well, your checking the receipt is prone to making a mistake." They have never countered my "No thanks..."

I'm watching part 1 of your "don't show your recipt" so forgive me if you've covered it later but I have a question about what you touched on about "trespassing" and the "right to refuse service" can that be done at a later time and without a uniformed officer. I like you kind of stick out among other customers, I have a slightly bit more hair on my head but a lot of ink on it as well as arms and hands. Even though by no means is it the only store around ( I live on the space coast in Florida) can the store just to decide to refuse service and not let me in? This also comes down to judging a book by the cover even now when ink is everywhere. So thanks and now on to part 2 where all my questions may possibly be answered.

Sorry dude your wrong Congress a while back pass a law that allows the store to check receipt if they want too.

couldn't watch past 3.19 cause it's just kinda dumb on many levels. If shoplifting wasn't rampant these measures wouldn't be an issue. Can't blame the store for trying to reduce losses because of it and showing a receipt takes a few seconds before you are on your way no harm no foul.

maybe a fun activity.... go through the store, and if they ask you to stop, turn around and walk to the customer service counter and return EVERYTHING you just purchased. Let them know you will instead go purchase the same 'stuff' at that other place down the street instead.

I've been asked to show my receipt at Walmart ONCE. I showed them because I was stunned (and getting angrier). I went home and researched it. Yes, they can ask you to show your receipt (heck, they can ask you to chirp like a bird) and YES you can refuse. If it is a regular commercial store like Walmart, they DO have the right to ban you from the store if you refuse (even if you weren't stealing anything). In practice, stores rarely do that and it would be really hard to track who is banned from the store.

Like this guy said, they do NOT have to right to physically restrain you. All they can do is follow you to get your license plate number and call the cops if they really suspect you of stealing. Also, if the receipt guard is ignorant of the law, it does NO good to stand and argue with him.

If it happens again at my local stores, I'll say "no thanks, have a nice day".

Also, you DO have to show your receipt at membership stores like Costco and Sam's Club if it is a condition of membership (which I believe it is).

It's slightly reckless but oh so much fun.....I try to avoid the receipt checker at all costs...but when I cant, and they ask for a receipt, I just take off running-basket and all......and I've never had anyone come up to me while unloading my basket to the car. I wonder what they think when I do that? (Good times)

Walmart loses millions each year in shoplifting so there is some justification. Wouldn't you love to be able at to check his pockets as he walks out the door. Welcome to Walmart's conundrum.

The store is trying to beef up it's loss prevention, which they do to keep prices low. If they can show everyone that there is an active effort to stop shoplifters, that visual is enough to prevent theft itself. Actively being difficult to the business and you yourself showing the actual shoplifters that their efforts are easily surpassed is not empowering your literal liberty, you are doing nothing more than fortifying a path for the real shoplifters. You are in effect working against the business that you value for their low prices and working towards the support of shoplifters. If that is your goal, then have at-it. I'd rather you choose instead to shop at a different store because I enjoy the low prices and don't want anyone else to destroy the business's efforts to combat the enormous problem with theft which keep MY prices down. - Liberty discussions start and end at government's gilded doors, not at WalMart's automatic sliding doors. Your Liberty involves choosing not to shop at stores that employ this method as a loss prevention plan.

I had that happen to me too, NO More ! , I am tired of being treated like a criminal in this leftist bullshit society. It is bad enough we are watched by cameras everywhere and treated like terrorists at airports I never fly on a airplane anymore because I will not go through that socialist search system . We live in a 1984 society right now, with our freedoms being taken away slowly so we get used to it as ok so we accept it . People do not show your receipts at the Walmart when you leave . If they try to give me trouble I will sue their ass for harassment ! and I will shop at King Soopers instead they will lose my business. We have to fight back to keep our freedoms that we are losing in this 21st century hellhole . Just like the stupid youth of today and Democrats pushing for total Communism they can all go to hell. Very sad what is happening in America this is not the country it used to be and we can lose it all if a Democrat gets back into office. We lost so much already as it is.

Businesses have to close down because of the billions of dollars being stolen. We are giving people the right to take what they want and walk out the door. Judges who are prosecuting for anything less than $1,000 theft or slapping the hands of a thief and letting him go. The power now is in the thieves hands. how do you feel when someone comes to your home and steals trinkets from your house. I'm sure you feel irate and would never let that person in your home again or go to the police and report them and recover your property.
You don't have a right to steal company's property. you should have no problem proving to someone that you did not steal from them. my experience is those that scream the loudest are the most guilty. people are walking into retail companies with their own shopping bags filling them up and walking out. Why do you think this is okay? Let's see how you feel after someone robs you blind and you find out it was someone you know maybe someone who even asked you where that product was and they stole it right behind your back. Get a grip people. Pretty soon there will be no laws protecting YOU when you've been hurt because your attitudes are giving the power to the criminal.

If I just purchased a bag of dicks and I live in a convent, I kinda feel like my fucking privacy is violated when I have to publicly display what needs I have fulfilled at the grocer.

Check this out! If I put medical supplies in my cart now you have medical privacy. After I purchase goods, my privacy is dictated by me. Ask to look in my bag or analyze my receipt, and you can have my bag of dicks and GO FUCK YOURSELF!

Once I pay for the items, the items are mine and it is none of Walmart's business. It is so offensive that they treat you as if you have stolen the merchandise. REFUSE!
