The Lighthouse is getting snubbed for so much. It's getting deserved nominations for cinematography, but that's it! Not many nominations for Willem Dafoe who easily put in my favorite performance this year, the score got completely snubbed when it was a character in of itself, Eggers is also getting snubbed, Pattinson is missing his lead nomination of some kind and they built everything in the film, including the f**king lighthouse itself! And man, the script?! Beautiful! Authentic to how lightkeepers in that time period talked with some of the best monologues this year! Ugh!

You make it sound as if race is the determining factor in almost every category. As if voters OWE it to non-whites. Totally contradicts what you said at the beginning of your video.

Uhhhhhh... what? I’m not sure what you mean, my friend. Nobody owes anyone. Race should not be a reason to vote for someone. If someone gives a performance that is deserving of a nomination, they should be nominated.

I really want Joker to get a director nomination, however, despite Bafta, Globes, and being in many predictions I think the DGA snub is too much for him to overcome

Personally HTTYD3 was better than Frozen 2 and Toy Story 4 and should be 1st to win.

It’s not that I didn’t enjoy it, I just don’t think it’s the best movie of the year.
The acting is incredible! But I think there are better scripts that aren’t this one. It’s totally a solid film, I just don’t have it as high as some other people may. But I love that people DO love it!

Scarlett Johansson does not deserve a nomination for JoJO Rabbit! If anything, Thomasin McKenzie from JoJO Rabbit is more deserving than Scarlett.

I boy, I think BOTH are more than deserving. I actually had McKenzie in my 10 a couple months ago I believe. I’d LOVE for her to get in.

I think Joker will win for original score. Whatever you may think of the film, the score was amazing and I was so happy to see Hildur win at the Globes. Though I’m a fan of Newman, I really hope she takes the Oscar for Joker. Her work was phenomenal in Chernobyl too.

I will be thrilled for her, I’ll just be sad for Newman. Both scores are deserving, I just think Newman’s is better. But they’re probably the top 2. Throw in The Last Black Man In San Francisco, and it’s a perfect lineup!

I liked pacino better than pesci. Yeah, I said it. His character is just as dynamic as Pitt's. A bit comical, yeah, but it fit perfectly into Hoffa's influencer reputation as a character.

Wanting a woman in the list just because there are too many men is as sexist as anything else.

No it's not. I don't know what drugs you're taking but it's not sexist to have more diversity than just men all the time.

@Max Joseph - Film Person Well the actors were pretty convincing, Ana especially, but the story felt a bit forced and unnatural - some of the characters seemed to be there just so the movie could fit the stereotype of a murder mystery. Mainly the school boy who had absolutely zero storyline and wasn't even included in the suspects, some of the parents who were hard to distinguish bc they were so alike each other, and the grandmother who could have been given a deeper meaning. The ending, the twists, that was awesome, it is just very very far from what I'd consider a really great movie. It felt like a movie company ordered a script of a basic murder mystery story, got great writers but writers who just created within frames.

                  - After

                  - Dark Phoenix
                  - Men in Black: International
                  - Serenity
i also had other 5 movies that could have been nominated, but those 5 are probably the ones who had most chance to be nominated

It's a dog of a movie.. filled with unrtuths and most of it makes no sense. Zellwegger is fine if that oerformance was of another character. but -- shes just not Judy Garland -except for the wig. She doesnt sound like her when shes speaking or singing.. if you want to call it that.. Watch Judy Garland and you'll hear real singing.

I think she is REMARKABLE, and is deserving. The film itself... it was ok/good.
But her performance is worth it, in my opinion.

Spirit from the Lion King should win it's a masterpiece and the best Original Song(from the lyrics to the vocals to the musical arrangements) in that category. If the Oscars prides itself in awarding the most outstanding acting performances. Then this should apply to this category too.

I appreciate your passion for “Spirit”, my friend!! I think it’s a GORGEOUS song, however, I just don’t think it’s the best this year. It’s in the film for a very small amount of time, and really doesn’t do anything for the plot. The song outside of the film... GORGEOUS. Beyoncé is the 👑 🐝

I don’t know but Bombshell to me sticks out like a sore thumb, out of all those movies it’s the only one I feel doesn’t deserve the nomination.
I would put Knives Out, Uncut Gems, or The Lighthouse in that spot

The Artist was a French film, but it was silent. Therefore it’s not considered to be a “foreign language film”.

The easiest way I describe it is this...

Sound Editing is gathering the sounds that are needed for the film

Sound Mixing is what’s done AFTER the sounds are gathered

                                  Does that help?

Personally, I think that “Into the Unknown” shouldn’t win the Best Original song, simply because it isn’t even the best song from the movie (hi to “Show Yourself”). Just another Disney lovely song, nothing special IMHO...
“Spirit” and “Stand Up” are much more beautiful and empowering songs that should truly get the recognition 😌

I’m with you on “Show Yourself”, by far the better song.

And I’m also with ya on “Stand Up”, SO powerful.

“Spirit”, I have some problems with. As a song on its own, it’s phenomenal, but in the context of the film, it was pointless. It was in Lion King for about 20 seconds, and did nothing for the plot. It was made for the purpose of getting an Oscar nomination, which I am very against. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Beyoncé (probably too much), but I just don’t think this song was necessary. But again, I adore the song, and it’s message when you look at the music video, but not for an Oscar.

I'm from Korea and I'm a rigid fan of Parasite, but I think the SAG nomination may not be a big indicator than it seems. Knives Out man, that could've easily been the frontrunner if it wasn't for the screener issues. I'll be shocked if Parasite was to be still nominated taking Knives Out into account(then THAT seriously tells something), but my opinion is negative.

But I still hope a history be made, because it is just dominating the critics awards! Would be a real swag to win the best picture after describing the Oscar a local thing. haha

I totally thought Knives Out was a perfect fit for that SAG nomination, but Parasite getting in was just a needed push for it.

Personally, I think that Little Women is being too under-looked here. Ronan & Pugh did AMAZING in the film and can we also talk about the gorgeous cinematography? Personally, I also think that Pugh is gonna be nominated because not only with Little Women, but she also did INCREDIBLE in Midsommar. 2019 was definitely her year and she deserves to be credited for it.
