cute, even back then they had high goals/dreams and now its coming true. Tobey, Hugh jackman in the MCU back then would have been amazing. however, would the Avengers would have been the same? i don't think so.

As cool as this is, it doesn't mean anything. The MCU wasn't the MCU yet. However, I'm glad the MCU is around, regardless of how many flaws the universe has.

Of course, you hate the idea of maybe Marvel always planned to bring back all its characters together in one universe. Your pessimistic outlook towards Marvel and Feige these days doesn't surprise me.

People forget Kevin Feige was a producer and consultant for all of those early Marvel films and he was in fact trying to plan a crossover between the X-Men and Spider-Man and I believe Incredible Hulk. To my knowledge that crossover never materialized because Sony wanted Spider-Man to be the lead while Fox wanted or course, Wolverine to be the lead while Spider-Man sort of acted as his sidekick, which would’ve truly sucked.

Fox was also trying to develop their own “Civil War” which would’ve included the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Daredevil but they could never get the ball rolling on where to start to the story. These things could all be rumors for all we know lol

It Would have been Really Awesome and Cool in my opinion to See My Favourite actor and Favourite Wolverine aka Logan aka James Howlett Hugh Jackman and Tobey Maguires Peter Parker in the Potential MCU Back in 2008 that would have had to Follow up Till now! But only Wishful thinking on this one!

Actually Feige had been trying to do superhero tie in since spiderman 2 with wolverine and he thought he could maybe doma deal with fox to tie it together since he had worked over their before

Too bad Spider-Man couldn't possibly be in the MCU that early anymore.
                    1. They confirmed that Peter Parker was the little boy who was in the scene with Iron Man in Iron Man 2.
                    2. Then, in Civil War, Peter Parker mentioned to Tony Stark that he had only had his powers for 6 months.
So, I am truly tickled and AMAZED at the foresight of Kevin Feige and the MCU team!!

Hey its seeing a Big Picture when in future he will use the spider and mutants. But u getting it so negative way that it was nothing. What did u expect a cameo of hugh jackman as wolverine or Toby maguire as spiderman... Is that satisfy ur mind.

If you said something at 10 years old that you are going to become a big movie star and you actually did become a big movie star, then of course you would bring it up during an interview.

it was not just a nod.. it was a studio call.. calling universal, sony & fox to relate all marvel characters in a single universe..

Sounds exactly like Disney. Doesn't play well with others (asking huge chunk of profit of other people's property) and want to keep all the toys to themselves (buying all the shit, and using dirty shit to those who don't accept their ripoff deal)

Or, it's obviously armed today for people to talk today ... Anyway, there was a reference to Spiderman at the end of Ant-Man remember? And no, they certainly couldn't use the word "mutant," that's why Maximoff twins are called "miracles" in the Winter Soldier end credits scene.

Feige was involved in a lot of the Spider-Man and X-Men films.
I can’t think he never thought of bringing those universes together, but of course with the licensing it just never happened. But my god it would’ve been so cool to see.

They should've kept the "gamma accidents" part, since The Incredible Hulk was already about to release a month later. It would've complemented The Incredible Hulk's post credit, and maybe even generated a bit more buzz.

I’m certain it was just a funny little wink to the audience, because Marvel didn’t get Spider-Man back until 2016 so their’s no way in hell they would’ve known that far in advance that it would happen, and even if it was put in it wouldn’t have gotten the same reaction as it would today, because the MCU didn’t exist when this movie came out, none of us had been exposed to the idea of big, shared cinematic universes before so it’s not like we would’ve jumped to that conclusion after hearing it

If Fiege was trying to get all of the superhero movies together but couldn't because of the higher ups, it shows that he had a wonderful plan B which is probably the MCU as we know it. He focused on what he knew he had under the company umbrella, rather than putting hopes onto others.

Now that would’ve been a true Marvel Cinematic Universe. Maybe Mike Douglas and Michelle Phieffer as Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyme still could’ve been casted and we could’ve seen them passing some award to Tony and we see Tony say something really condescending to Hank. It honestly could’ve worked very organically. Who knows, maybe the Stark Expo was showing Mjolnir and they brought in Norton’s Banner and the guy who played Reed in 05/07 FF4 and that’s how FF4 and Hulk get brought in.

Even Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 mentioned Doctor Strange, just easter eggs not necessarily set ups.

Jetfire97 Not necessarily. Spider-Man 4 was in development before he got canned in 2011. X-Men were still making movies with X-Men Origins coming out two years later. Not to mention the original X-Men cast came back in Days of Future Past. So I’m certain Feige at least had an idea of bringing all universes together.

It sounds to me like Marvel hoped to somehow make a deal with Sony and Fox so that the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man and the Hugh Jackman/Patrick Stewart led X-Men could exist in the same world. At that time those films were very self contained and one _could_ make the case that they were in the same universe, we just didn’t know it yet.

I think it would have been cool to see what the MCU would have looked like if this happened and obviously this would have meant Spider-Man 4 would have been in the MCU so that would have been interesting. I’m fine with what happened though but I also wonder what the MCU would have looked like if they had Spider-Man in the MCU at the start.
