    This is great help since my knees don’t like a lot of pressure.

      This is a very dangerous excercise. Never rotate your spine, you will get snapped instantly.
      Use very light weight (maximum 30lbs) and use a 15-15 Tempo just to be safe.

        but what about heavy weight for 5 reps max? it's super hard to have the perfect form for a heavy set with this exercise.

          If you are aiming for a 5RM then you shouldn't expect a perfect form on all the reps, but at least on the first three. But I'm speaking generally here.

          Also perhaps you should do the exercise with a lower weight for a while. Can instead work with more sets and reps, then try again.

                  This doesn't look like its going to turn out very well when you start rowing heavier weights. If you have an absolute TITAN-like core, than perhaps. I Just don't see how this is fully isolating the muscle group you want, and it looks like it is going to mess you up the heavier you lift.

                      I think that getting some momentum at the top is a good idea since it will get harder at the end of the movement.

                        Actually you got it wrong my friend ..that position you are showing can seriously hurt someone s back especially the beginners because this position require a very strong core ..the traditional position is to put knee on the bench to constitute a safe leverage for a person s back ..I would highly suggest to delete your video..it’s just dry wrong if a person follow your instructions

                                This is grear but let me add keeping your back straight with this is tough, donot follow this if you just began the knee on the bench is still the way to go

                                        @Hinok Yohannes I agree with you man. All of these old school exercises are getting demonized into oblivion and you can't even trust if these exercises are really as bad as they say they are. It surely doesn't make newbies feel very confident either.

                                          How can you watch both videos and walk away thinking that? This isn't bad form, and this isn't a different exercise. It's the same form that Jeff teaches, just without lying on the bench. This video is simply saying to not use the bench because it's easy to mess up. Maybe Jeff likes using the bench, but these videos don't disagree with one another otherwise.

                                                He says basically the same thing, except he takes longer. He did mention the extra risk of inguinal tearing/hernia by parking a knee up on the bench, giving the hip girdle a canted angle and then loading up weight on it with a row is dangerous.

                                                        Hey, guys. Really hope you can help:

                                                        In the past I could do DB bent-over rows with up to 30kg in a hand, without any discomfort in joints/tendons, and was able to keep working out such for multiple years.

                                                        Recently I restarted working out, starting with very light weights, however got shoulder pain which is kind of like rotator cuff pain, but somewhat different.

                                                        The difference between how I executed the rows before and now is:

                                                        Before: pull the weight almost straight up to my chest/armpit.
                                                        Now: pull the weight in an arcing fashion with elbow tucked in close to my torso, moving back and up, so as if pulling the weight towards my hip.

                                                        Been researching this but couldn't find any reason why executing the move with tucked in elbow pulling to hip would hurt your shoulder.

                                                        Could anybody please help? Will be insanely grateful in advance and thanks!

                                                          Just keep working out in the right form. If you feel any discomfort during any lift try to fix your form or lower the weight and if you think you got any injuries from lifting/injuries from past accidents outside from lifting then get it checked in a hospital. Hope you get back into lifting soon man good luck

                                                          maybe you pull the elbow too high?
                                                          Like when bench pressing, not letting the elbows go past the shoulder/back level prevents shoulder issues.
                                                          Those barrel chest guys, champion bench pressers, often don't have their elbows go past their backs either.
                                                          Or it could be that your shoulders have to adjust to this new effort, which they are not accustomed to.
                                                          But you started out with light weights as you said, should not be an issue....


                                                          I would guess, cause I cannot see your form... Do not pull the elbow too high.
