Honestly, honestly, you're an ...uneducated person... to still believe that vacination is bad for you or your child. Even if your child had an adverse reaction to a vaccine or even many vaccine, that doesn'T mean the vacine is bad! You take syrup for your cough, right? it taste bad right? (that's the adverse effect) but you do know it is gonna be good for your coughing, clearing your nose, your throat, your lungs, right? (beneficial effect) It is the same thing with vaccine! There is sometimes bad effect, and yes, it has happened that very bad effect had happened, maybe even death cause by an alergy to one of the composant of the vaccine. That doesn'T mean vaccination is bad.

My only problem with vaccine is that i am afraid it is gonna be use one day by gouvernment to systematically inject everyone with a substance that will make you vote for the wrong candidate... oh...wait... ;)

My mom literally vaccinates me and my sister whenever a new disease comes out. In my country, when vaccines are new sometimes you have to pay for them (because the government takes a few months to make them free for everybody) my parents once payed more than $300 to make sure we were both safe. And it's worth it cuz when I was in first grade half of my classmates had the chickenpox but not me lol.

Question: do you have to pay for vaccines in the states? Because that would probably contribute to some reluctance to get them and to this belief that doctors push vaccines to make money.
It seems to me that if the government was serious about increasing the vaccine percentage then they would cover the cost of vaccines for children

I have a very hard time with people saying "I know my child best" as an excuse for disregarding a doctor's opinion. Extended physical proximity does not give you some kind of magical medical knowledge through osmosis. Case in point: I live in my house everyday. Yet the moment an electrician walks in, he knows more about its electrical grid than I do. I can argue with him that yes, a specific light is dimmer than it used to be, but he'll still know the possible reasons why better than I would.

God so glad to live in Germany, we don't even have these discussions. Your Kid gets vaccinated unless other medical conditions do not allow vaccine. I really wish every country would introduce the same healthcare system.

It is amazing how little most doctors know about vaccines. In a true risk reward analysis, using math and data, vaccines loose by a large margin. But Doctors don't read the the vaccine inserts or licensing data. If only medical doctors would learn to read.

I'll admit that I'm not as up to date on my vaccines as I should be as an adult, due to a crippling fear of needles and injections. I am however slowly working on getting them up to date with my doctor.

To say no one should go anti vaccine because reaction why do you use the same idealogy to say that the diseases cause the harm so bad that a medicine is worth the risk. Each vaccine is playing Russian ruelet more so than you might catch a disease that modern medicine can handle along with cleanliness and good diet. Your vaccine patience are spreading diseases because they do not even know they can transmit to family members and students coworkers. You play good guy but you are ignorant to look at the full damage it is causing in family injured children. The denial in the industry is so profound I have watched them deny symptoms in so many just freaking out right. The child gets vaccinated does not even get out of the office before a seizure happens. Doctor calls it a hysteria moment. You nor anyone else has the right to force medical choices nor decide if they should have to take the risk. Your are wrong it is happening all over doctors and nurses denying side affects so sick of people like you who are paid to promote these toxic vaccines.. they are using facts and you are trying to deny them because they are emotionally attached. Emotionally attached will trigger a person to protect and do no harm. With risk it is misinformation to say people are better off to take a chance with vaccine. They just changed the sicknesses all diseases are on the rise has nothing to do with better diagnosis.

My cousin and I both got the HPV vaccines at the same time. She had a bad reaction that caused her to go into a coma and eventually she passed away. She was one in a million. The doctors didn't know what happened they couldn't explain why she had this reaction. And it was hard for me since I had the same set of shots and had no problem.

I will still vacate my kids on the doctor recommended schedule. I just hope by then they have better understanding of what happened to people like my cousin and I hope they fix them.

Refusing to vaccinate your child without a legitimate medical reason (an allergy that they have gotten tested for by a doctor and proven to have) should be considered child neglect.

I had a lot of questions for my pediatrician when it came to vacation. Just like you she sat with me and went through every bullet point I had and explained why they do things like they do (like combining vaccines and so on) and at the end she asked me would you be vaccinating your child? So I felt like she at no point was “pushing “ any agenda and the decision is up to me. Some time later I had to make an appointment with a different doctor who saw me and my child for the first time and practically yelled at me for optioning out of a hearing test for my new born ( I had no doubt my child could hear cause he was responsive and I have no history of hearing problems in my family or my husband’s) and said that my child is going to grow up dumb because the doctors can’t know for sure if he hears well.
That really made me think that if I made my pre vaccination appointment with that doctor I would be an anti-vaccer! I really think that there are some doctors who really push young parents away from the right choice because they have a “religious” approach to convince a parent to do something.

Hello from Australia laws have been brought in here which force parents to vaccinate their children in order to receive government benefits or tax payments,Also children who are not fully vaccinated are removed from daycare or school the second there is any report of a case of illness for which there is a vaccination.Society vaccinate to protect tiny babies who are not fully vaccinated as well as the other groups mentioned.I have 2 children who were fully vaccinated 30 years ago the 2 things that would of helped as a mum were when i took me precious 8 week old baby I asked the doctor what were the risks were he told me not to worry that bad reactions were rates of a million to one.I was very young and probably would of went ahead whatever he said but would have been treated more honestly' The other thing is I wish they could make the vaccines in another way because having to hold your baby while they have 2 injections feels cruel, before you decide no to vaccination watch videos of babies fighting awful diseases like whooping cough or measles.

I think what everyone needs to understand that all medicines have side effects, no medicine is completely safe, all medical intervention is a weigh up between the benefits and negatives....vaccines are no different. However, vaccines are so important because the help to protect everyone it's so much bigger than just the one person. The risks are so small in comparison to the risks of not being vaccinated. Of all of the medical interventions we have, they are probably one of the safest.

                                                                          • Talia Gauvain - Hartley

I see being eloquent doesn't equate to being smart. The reasons that anti-vaxxers give aren't giving me any second thoughts at all. All they sound like are parents that let their emotions overtake their rationale. And they clearly don't understand the concept of herd immunity or the risk-benefit analysis that is integral in the administration of every modern medical procedure and treatment today. And the fact that drugs and vaccines aren't just put out to the public that easily. They have to go through a ton of tests and analysis and are closely monitored even after they are approved and used by the public. There's a cell that reports back any serious side effects that is beyond expected and drugs are continually being called off the market when they prove to be more harmful than beneficial.
That may sound unfair for the patients who were ingesting the dangerous meds all this time but that's the way it works. Medicine is a continually evolving field. Drugs that were thought to be ideal in treating a disease are replaced by newer ones as the time passes.
Right now it's either vaccine or something else. And until we find that something else, this is all we got. So as unfair as it may sound to those 1 in 3000 with the side effects, we have got to vaccinate. It's the idea of collective responsibility and the fact that we don't have an equally viable choice. The only ground that can be conceded in this point is maybe open up a separate counselling cell for the unfortunate patients. Parents don't understand why doctors don't tell them about all the side effects that can happen. But it's because of parents like these that can't see the bigger picture and gets scared at the mere mention of a possibility or throw a tantrum because they happen to draw the short lot- that doctors tend to be more discreet in dispensing information. Can you even blame them?

I'm pro-vaccines yet I believe there is a benefit to the existence of anti-vaxxers. A great majority of people blindly trust their health care providers never learning to become their own advocates. We now live in a time where doctors/nurses/etc spend less time face to face with the patients in hospitals or clinics. If you are not your own advocate you are quickly dismissed from their offices. Anti-vaxxers are raising concerns about only 1 of the medical practices out there that put a tiny % at risk, but that tiny % are still individuals who will have to deal with lifelong consequences of the vaccine. What about cancer treatments and the 5 year survival rate cooked numbers? What about the cases of people that "miraculously" recover from coma, chronic conditions etc? Medicine just doesnt have the answer to everything. I believe it is important for people to question everything that directly affects them, even if it puts them in harm's way, we all know money controls what path medicine takes, just like money controls what country we go to war etc. So if you dont want to be anyone's ginea pig, do you own research and switch doctors until you find one that will listen to you.

I have a question for you though, as a health professional myself, I am very aware of how beneficial vaccines are. I am often confused at the the number of vaccines children have to take these days, and in my opinion much of the adverse effects that come from vaccines can be from the load of these vaccines and their interaction on the children's bodies, and I am sure you can agree, children have a different physiology and we don't even conduct clinical trials of any medications on them so we don't exactly know how they would respond. So my question is, first, why do we have so many vaccines that children have to take today? and secondly, would you say there are adequate studies on how these vaccinations affect the body of the children, not studied individually but how it would affect them taken together?

                                                                                      • Tau Noctua

Is it unreasonable to alienate anti vaxxers or anti vax kids when they are indeed a high risk to the rest of the community. We’re naturally trying to quarantine them away from ourselves because they are a risk. Our desire to stay alive and well outweighs their need to be included and it’s a subconscious decision we make because our instincts tell us they are dangerous. Anyone who has studied the repercussions of viral outbreaks are scared shitless of them, their effects are devastating, who in the right mind would expose a child to that? You don’t know which vaccinated person is asymptomatic and carrying the pathogen, their bodies might be fighting it off well and it’s not developing further but what about the unvaccinated children? Just one can be deadly because their bodies have no idea how or what to do with the foreign invader and once the immune system fully kicks into gear at full force, it’s probably too late.
